notice of meeting to consider
rate, Fee, PENALTY and charge increases

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 32-1-1001(2)(a), C.R.S. to the customers of the Academy Water and Sanitation District (“District”) and all other interested persons that the Board of Directors of the District shall consider increasing one or more of the District’s water and/or sanitary sewer rates, fees, penalties and charges at a public meeting to be held at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.  All participation in this public meeting, including public participation, will be remotely to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of the public caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and in conformance with state orders.  This meeting is being held via SKYPE, for sign on information please go to the AWSD website.  Any interested person may appear at the public meeting for the purpose of providing input, comments or objections to the Board regarding this matter.  Information regarding the possible increases may be obtained from the District Manager.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AMENDMENT OF 2020 BUDGET, IF NECESSARY,

AND PROPOSED 2021 BUDGET

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a proposed budget has been submitted to the Academy Water and Sanitation District (“District”) Board of Directors for the ensuing year of 2021 and that a copy of such proposed budget has been filed in the District office, where it is open for public inspection.  A public hearing to consider amending the 2020 budget, if necessary, and approving the proposed 2021 budget will be held at a regular meeting of the Board on Wednesday, November 18, 2020,at 6:00 p.m.   All participation in this public hearing, including public participation, will be remotely to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of the public caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and in conformance with state orders.  This meeting is being held via SKYPE, for sign on information please go to AWSD website.  Any interested elector of the District may inspect the proposed budget and file any objections thereto at any time prior to the final adoption of the budget.

BOARD MEETINGS

The Donald Wescott Fire Station has cancelled all use of their community meeting room, where the District holds their monthly meeting, due to Coronavirus precaution. 

The May 20, 2020,  and all future board meetings until the pandemic restrictions are lifted, will be conducted using SKYPE.

ALL PARTICIPATION IN THIS PUBLIC MEETING, INCLUDING PUBLIC PARTICIPATION, WILL BE REMOTELY

DROP BOX BREAK IN 02/10/2020

The payment drop box next to the fire station has been broken into.  The District is not replacing the box based upon advice from the Sheriff - payments may be made electronically or mailed in to the accountant.

 

CURB STOP LOCATIONS

The curb stop is the valve buried underground that allows water service to be shut off between the main supply line and your house.  The District has engaged R&R Ditching to locate those difficult to find curb stops that we do not already have located.  Over the next several weeks/months they will be entering yards (usually near the street) in an attempt to find the remaining curb stops.

NOTICE OF REGULAR BOARD MEETING

The regularly scheduled Board of Directors meetings are held the 3d Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Donald Wescott Fire Station at 15415 Gleneagle Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80921.  The meetings are open to the public.

The remaining meetings for 2020 will be held Jan 15, Feb 19, Mar 18, Apr 15, May 20, Jun 17, Jul 15, Aug 19, Sep 16, Oct 21, Nov 18, & Dec 16
